I launched MBS Audio in April 2023, after realising that my passion for high-fidelity audio had grown far beyond a hobby. It was time to take what had always been a personal obsession and turn it into a professional mission—to help others experience the same profound connection to music that I’ve enjoyed for years.

Music has been a constant in my life. I can’t imagine a day without it. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to own a variety of audio systems, each one bringing a new level of enjoyment and immersion.


But, as rewarding as system building can be, it’s not without its challenges. It takes time, effort, and a lot of patience to get things just right.

Like many audio enthusiasts, I’ve had my share of frustration—those moments when a new piece of equipment, one I’d researched for hours, didn’t deliver the magic I expected.


It’s a common experience, but it’s also a reminder that building a great system isn’t just about adding the latest and greatest components. It’s about understanding how everything works together to create an engaging and emotionally powerful listening experience.

When you are sitting down listening to your hi-fi system what are you actually hearing? Most of the sound you hear in a typical living room is reflected sound that bounces off walls, ceilings and objects. In some cases only 20% of the sound you hear is coming directly from the speakers.

For £199, you get a comprehensive, personalised review and optimisation of your system.

Total duration of consultation including setup and removal of equipment: 4 - 6 hours

If you choose to make a purchase following your consultation, the £199 consultation fee will be deducted from your total order.

Step 1 - HI-FI EVALUATION (30 - 40 mins)

  • Ascertain a baseline of your system by requesting that you play 4 - 6 of your favourite tracks
  • After listening to the final song, I'll provide a concise explanation of the products I offer and their specific functions

Step 2 - HI-FI OPTIMISATION (3 - 4 hours)

  • Focus is on a holistic approach rather than making incremental adjustments.
  • Stage 1 - Guide you through the, applicable, installation of circa 15 products from the five pillars of optimisation using the PAVING framework. The pillars are Power, Acoustics, Vibration Control, Noise Reduction Ancillaries and Grounding.

We'll now delve into the exciting phase of optimising your Hi-Fi system!

NOTE: At a later that suits you, we’ll proceed with Stage 2, focusing on the Cables and Interconnects pillar.


Once the components from the 5 pillars have settled, we’ll fine-tune your system’s sound with optimisations to USB, Ethernet, Analogue, and Speaker cables as required.


Stage 2 is included in the consultation fee at no additional charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to pay the £199 fee for additional consultations I may want in the future?
No.  The £199 fee is for the initial consultation only.  If you become a customer after the first consultation any subsequent consultations will not incur any fees from MBS Audio.
Is the £199 consultation fee refundable if I’m not satisfied?

In the unlikely event that you are not satisfied with the consultation and cannot hear any perceived improvement, the fee is not refundable.

How far do you travel for consultations within the UK?
MBS Audio offers consultations throughout the entire UK.
Typically, how long are your consultations? 
A consultation will last typically between 4 - 6 hours.  I am happy to stay until longer if you need me to.  The main thing is that whenb I leave you are clear in what the products have done for your system.
How do I pay for and book the consultation?
When you're ready to schedule your consultation, simply click on the "Yes! I want to Book My Appointment" button or the 'Book Your Consultation Today' button at the top of the page. This will direct you to the order page where you can choose an available date and make the payment for the £250.00 consultation fee.  You'll also be able to select the package you'd like to demo in the form.
I already have room acoustic treatment from brands such as Acustica Applicata, can your products still make a difference?
Absoulutely!! In fact I have a customer who had spent over £10,000 on top-of-the-range Acustica Applicata room treatment and to his surprise one of the products I demoed still  made an astonishing improvement.  In his own words "I tried removing it from the listening room, but something was then lacking, which returned the instant the FEQ Carbon was reintroduced!"
What if my audio setup gets accidentally damaged during the consultation?

This is highly unlikely as I am extremely careful during my consultations.  However, I am fully insured to cover any accidental damage that might occur during consultations. My policy includes public and products liability coverage for high-end audio equipment, ensuring your valuable setup is protected throughout the consultation. This insurance gives both of us peace of mind, allowing us to focus entirely on optimising your listening experience without worry.

How does hi-fi optimisation differ from simply upgrading components?
Hi-Fi Optimisation and component upgrading are distinct approaches to improving audio systems. Optimisation takes a holistic view, considering factors like room acoustics, power quality, and fine-tuning existing components. In contrast, upgrading focuses on replacing individual parts of the system. While upgrading a component can improve specific aspects, hi-fi optimisation aims to enhance the overall performance by addressing the interplay of all elements in the audio chain.
Can your services improve an already professionally set-up audio system?

The potential for improvement depends on the current level of your system's setup. Customers  with various optimisation elements in place have discovered that my comprehensive PAVING framework can still make a crucial difference. If you're uncertain, it's best to ring me before arranging a consultation. Should I believe I can't enhance your current setup, I'll inform you.

Do you offer any guarantees or follow-up support?

I firmly stand behind the  quality of my service and products. While I don't offer a blanket guarantee due to the subjective nature of audio appreciation, I do provide comprehensive follow-up support. After any consultation or installation, I remain available to address any questions or concerns you may have about your optimised system. I am committed to ensuring your long-term satisfaction and can schedule follow-up visits if needed to fine-tune your setup. My goal is to build a lasting relationship with you , supporting you as your audio journey evolves.

Are there any hidden costs after the initial consultation fee?

I do not have any hidden costs beyond the initial consultation. As I've mentioned, once you place an order, all future consultations are provided free of charge for you as an existing customer. I value your custom and will  provide ongoing support without additional fees.

How soon can I schedule an appointment?

I ask for 24 hours' notice to ensure I can meet my obligations. For example, if you book a consultation on Monday, the earliest I can see you is Wednesday morning. 

How do I prepare for the consultation?
You do not need to do anything specific to prepare for the consultation. As I will be listening to your system in situ, everything should be as it normally is. You'll be glad to know that I'm house-trained, so I will arrive with my indoor slippers to avoid dirtying your floor! :)
Can I choose which products to demo during the consultation?
My expertise lies in identifying your system's specific needs and introducing products that will yield the best results, some of which might surprise you. I carefully select demo products based on my PAVING framework and initial system assessment.

What products are included in the consultation?  Does it change depending on the customer setup?
YoI'll answer the second question first!  There is an element of flexibility in the products that I include in the consultation and it is dependent on your existing system.  Once I know the composition of your system I can then make an informed deciion on what products to demo.
